This post is online (below) and in the attached MP3 file. Let me know what you think of it.

I’ve collected quite a few articles to publish in this week’s news post. Most of the news comes via print magazines, but some is online.

This is also the first post that will include audio commentary on the stories. I’m trying out the FeedBurner SmartCast system to help with the audio. You can subscribe at my FeedBurner link.

First, I have to call attention to OpenVPN. It’s a new alternative to Microsoft, Cisco, etc VPN tools. I’ve not personally used it, but many of the magazines and sites I read have articles by people who tout is as wonderful and very secure. Here’s a great HowTo page: http://openvpn.net/howto.html.

The next time you need to raise money, check out Fundable. Its a great idea for those who would like to test out whether someone would pay prior to beginning work on it. For example, if I wanted to put together a new software program to manage podcasts and I knew it would require $5,000 in development time, I could try to sell licenses in advance on this site. If I reached the $5,000 plus a reasonable profit margin, then I’d begin. If no one added funds for this, then I would not build the software.

CIO’s February article on outsourcing was really good. They wrote it in part with MIT’s CISR so I liked it a bit more than the normal CIO article. I think that group does really good work. Anyway, the graphic depicting what clients and vendors want is a great summary of the ricks and benefits of these relationships. Unfortunately, one can only see it in the offline magazine! Come on CIO!

(By the way, the comments from CIO readers are really good for this article, too.)

Podcast Test

This is my podcast test.

The file is located here: http://corpmemo.com/podcasts/test.mp3

FeedBurner has a SmartCast service that should enable this to work for me (and anyone else). The link for my fee there is http://feeds.feedburner.com/Corpmemo
